The cricket world is buzzing after India’s historic T20 World Cup victory in Ahmedabad last Sunday, but fans have no time to rest. The BCCI officially released the IPL 2026 schedule today, igniting excitement across the globe.
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are set to kick off the season on March 28 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, facing off against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Due to upcoming local elections, only the first 20 matches have been confirmed, including a highlight anticipated showdown between RCB and the Chennai Super Kings on April 5.
This IPL announcement follows a dominant World Cup run where India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs to claim their third title. Sanju Samson was the hero of the tournament, taking home Player of the Tournament honors, while Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy dismantled batting lineups to finish as joint-leading wicket-takers.
In other international news, Bangladesh pulled off a massive upset today, defeating Pakistan by 8 wickets in their first ODI, thanks to a career-best-five-wicket haul from Nahid Rana. While the World Cup trophy returns to India, the focus shifts from national pride to franchise rivalry, and all eyes are gonna be on the IPL’s auction impact on team chemistry.
