Ever since President Donald Trump commented about TikTok at September 15, 2024, TikTok is nearing the decision of being banned in America or being kept in America. Currently, TikTok is scheduled to be banned on December 26th, 2025. However, recently, there have been talks with U.S. investors and President Trump on closing in on a deal regarding TikTok and discussions around the future ownership structure of the app. With TikTok's business on the table politically, U.S. investors want an 80% share of the app. This would allow the U.S. to exert considerable influence over the app's operations and data management, while China, which is believed to be the sole owner of the app as of now, would retain the remaining 20% of the app for its shareholders. There has also been discussion about restructuring the TikTok board, as the U.S. wants most of the board to be composed of American representatives, since they want to address the U.S. national security concerns and get the national security concerns under control. China does not want to give the U.S. the algorithm for TikTok since the Chinese government considers the TikTok algorithm a national security concern. While there have been many talks about TikTok's future, no formal agreements have been reached yet.
