Between all the grades at our school, everyone has their opinions on their hardest and easiest classes. I conducted a survey of multiple students and their input on what they thought was their hardest class based on their grade. Here were the results:
9th Grade - Biology (taught by Ms. Camarillo)
10th Grade - AP World History (taught by Mr. Betancourt)
11th Grade - AP Chemistry (taught by Mr. A)
12th Grade - AP Bio (taught by Ms. Camarillo)
As a 10th grader myself, I agree with Biology being the hardest subject in regards of freshmen year, and so far, AP World is the hardest class. The reason why Biology may be hard for a lot of students is because you need to learn the curriculum in a certain amount of time, and some students may feel rushed. This could lead to them not fully understanding the concept.
As for 10th grade, AP World is most likely the hardest subject for most students. This is because each unit covers many different details, but you also need to understand the general idea and connect different themes/time periods. You need to be able to manage your time so that you can go through the information without trying to memorize it all in one day.
For 11th grade, the juniors said that AP Chemistry was a hard class, mainly because there is a heavy workload and you get a very limited/low amount of time for the tests. This is in order to prepare you for the actual AP Exam. Based on this, some people would back out from doing this class simply because it is “hard”. Although the class may be difficult, your choice of taking the class should be based on whether you want to take it or not, or if it is within your interest.
Last but not least, AP Bio was one of the hardest classes that our seniors are currently taking. This is a difficult class because you need a college-level understanding of all these topics. It goes beyond simple memorization, and because it’s a college-style class, the workload is much higher and there are higher expectations for answering questions.
