A cruise company based in Florida has recently announced the launch of its Tour La Vie program which offers a variety of extended stays out at sea on the Villa Vie Odyssey—one of which includes avoiding America for the next four years.
“We came up with this marketing campaign before we even knew who would win; regardless of who would have won, you would have half of the population upset,” CEO Mikael Petterson told Newsweek. Quite frankly, we don’t have a political view one way or the other, we just wanted to give people who feel threatened to have a way to get out.”
The Tour La Vie program offers a variety of extended stays aboard the Villa Vie Odyssey which includes a one-year ‘Escape From Reality’, a two-year ‘Mid-Term Selection’, a three-year 'Everywhere But Home’, and a four-year ‘Skip Forward’ cruise. Consumers would spend time visiting over a hundred and forty countries, obviously avoiding the United States, which would include visiting all seven continents, thirteen World Wonders, and over a hundred tropical islands.
For Americans residents who would be aboard for the midterm election in 2026 and the presidential election in 2028, travelers will still be able to cast their votes through mail-in ballots sent to the cruise line’s corporate office and then to the ship. Petterson has said that the cruise had previously hosted two separate watch parties for passengers aboard during Election Night, with one group watching Fox News and the other viewing MSNBC.
“They didn’t want to talk to one another, they wanted to stay away from one another,” Petterson told a media outlet. “At the end of the day, everyone there isn’t there to talk politics, they actually have similar lifestyles; there wasn't any sort of issues or anything.”
Prices for the cruise start at about $40,000 per year, with single-occupancy cabins for the full fours years starting at about $246,000, and double-occupancy running up to $320,000 for the trip. Villa Vie also offers shorter packages covering the period leading up to the 2026 US midterms, starting at about $150,400 for a single cabin. All other essential necessities are included along with all the packages, with WiFi and medical visits along with housekeeping and food.
