The meeting between between Zelensky and Trump in February to the 30-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine

In the oval office in February there was a meeting between Zelensky and Trump and the plan was for Trump to sign the mineral deal between the two nations. In their meeting they talk about the war that is happening between Russia and Ukraine. Trump wants to re-engage Russia in diplomatic relations, yet Zelensky said that Russia has broken 25 times. 

Zelensky proposed a mineral deal to Trump and before the meeting ended they argued about the fact of a ceasefire, since Trump wanted a ceasefire to happen, but Zelensky did not want a ceasefire since he thinks that Russia is going to go back on the world of the ceasefire. With that, Trump says , “You don’t have the cards and without us you don’t have the cards” Trump thinks that Ukraine will fall without their support. In the end Trump did not sign the mineral deal that Zelensky proposed.

Later on March 11, Ukrainian officials made a draft on a 30-day ceasefire and on March 18 both Ukraine and Russia agreed to halt attacks on each other’s infrastructure for about one month. The talk for the ceasefire was done over a call. There was some temporary cut off of some military intelligence-sharing and aid to Ukraine since February, but it was restored after the Ukrainians last week signed off on March 11.

This ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia is questionable since Zelensky said that he did not want a ceasefire in February and yet Ukraine was the one who proposed the idea of the ceasefire in the first place.
